What we do

Subtitling

The primary focus of subtitling is to translate dialogue from one language to another.

Captioning

Captioning involves converting all audio in a video (dialogue, background noise, music, sound effects) into text.

Timecoding is the process of assigning specific time stamps to each piece of text (whether it's a translation or transcription) indicating when it appears in the video.

Timecoding
Transcription

Transcribing is the process of converting audio into written text.

Key Differences:

While both subtitling and captioning involve displaying text on the screen in sync with a video, captioning includes all audio, whereas subtitling focuses on dialogue. Timecoding is a technical process used to ensure synchronization between text and video for both subtitling and captioning. Transcribing is a more general process of converting audio to text, not always related to video.
